Lightning Lane Multi Pass vs. Single Pass: How Disney World’s Skip-the-Line Options Work
October 25, 2026 · 6 min read
Lightning Lane is Disney’s paid way to skip the regular standby line. There are two main options at Walt Disney World — Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass — and when you can book them depends on where you’re staying.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Multi Pass is a per-day, per-person purchase for one park. It lets you reserve return times for a set of attractions ahead of time — at Magic Kingdom you pick three, while at EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom the attractions are split into tiers and you choose one from the top tier plus two more. After you use (or pass) your first selections, you can book more one at a time, as availability allows. The price varies by park and date.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
Single Pass is sold separately for a handful of the most in-demand rides that aren’t part of Multi Pass. You buy one entry to one attraction at a set return time. Prices vary by ride and date, and they can be steep on peak days.
When can you book?
This is where staying on-site pays off. Guests at Disney resort hotels can buy and book Lightning Lane up to 7 days before check-in, for every day of their stay. Everyone else can book 3 days before their park day. On busy weeks, the best return times for the most popular rides can be gone by the time the 3-day window opens.
Is it worth it?
- Usually worth it: short trips, peak seasons and holidays, and families with young kids who can’t handle long waits.
- Often skippable: slower seasons, longer trips, and early risers who use Early Theme Park Entry to ride the big ones first.
- Pick your days: you don’t have to buy it for every park day — save it for your busiest park.
- Single Pass is best for one must-do ride you’d otherwise wait 90+ minutes for.
